A Malaysian man has been arrested in Singapore after allegedly buying counterfeit Viagra and selling it to a local pharmacy.
Hussein Tanjunga, 45, was arrested by the Food and Drug Administration in the city on charges that he offered to sell fake Viagra and the drug for a "pink" price.
He was also arrested by the police after a Singaporean officer was seen selling the fake Viagra and buying a pack of 28 pills to a pharmacy.
Tanjunga had no immediate comment on the arrest.
He has been charged with a number of counts including selling counterfeit Viagra and selling the drug to a pharmacy, though no arrests have been made.
He was released on a bond and returned to Singapore on bail.
With a total of 11,600 prescriptions written in Singapore, the agency has identified and dispensed approximately 1,200 pills of Viagra. The pills were sold online by the Malaysian Post, whose employees are part of the agency’s manufacturing plant in Malaya.
